Class 5 at last!

Not to disappoint anyone, but no I didn't just suddenly develop my mutant powers at age 34 and became stronger than Magneto. By Class 5 I meant my BC driver's license -- yay I finally passed the test! Woohoo! Class 5 is the last of the graduated driver license level in BC, which I had repeatedly failed, sad to say. Going down memory lane, the first time I took it was towards the end of my maternity leave with Bell because why not? I scheduled it as soon as I was eligible to book the test and since I wasn't working at that time, of course I had the free time to schedule it whenever. I was feeling very cavalier about it at that time, after all driving in Victoria is super piece of cake compared to driving in Toronto. I wouldn't even dare drive in the highway in Toronto, and here driving was just a freaking no-brainer. So imagine my shock and astonishment when I didn't pass the test! The test administrator nit-picked on everything. My left turns weren't perfect...

Raine is 6!

How fast time flies. I am now officially a mother of a 6 year old boy! It's baffling how quickly children grow up but it has been a complete joy watching my kids evolve and to be there to support and help nurture their sense of individuality. We had Raine's birthday party yesterday at grandma's backyard. Over twenty kids came and we invited his classmates from school, our neighbors, friends from church, family friends and we welcomed parents and siblings to stay and celebrate with us. I know it's customary in the western world to just invite children and not their families during birthday parties, but in Filipino tradition, a children's party is actually a celebration for all ages where family and friends are invited. I would very much like to keep that and at the same time let Raine's friends and their families know and feel that they are always welcome in our home.
