1, 2, 3... Breathe!

" 1, 2, 3, breathe! " I did it, I can finally do the front crawl for real now. Of course it's still not perfect and like everything else that you just started to learn, you just have to keep practicing. During the last class I was finally able to pinpoint and correct what's been making me sink whenever I come up for air. Last time I was breathing every second stroke just to get me going, tonight I went ahead and practiced doing three strokes before breathing. It takes SO much effort to do but whatever, I want to learn how to do this, right? The goal that my instructor gave me tonight was to be able to swim halfway without stopping. So not easy but eventually I was able to do it. My instructor said that I think too much so I should try not to think about swimming and to think about anything else but swimming. Oh sure relax and ignore the fact that if you don't focus you'll drown. But I had to try since nothing else seemed to be working. I did just that and seri...

FB Quiz Rationale

I posted this quiz about myself on Facebook a few weeks ago and I was very surprised that my husband got it all correct and my closest friends didn't. I guess technically he SHOULD get everything correct as he is my husband, whom I live with and SHOULD know me the best, I just didn't think he actually paid that much attention to my quirkiness nor remembered the other little details I've shared with him in the past. My bad, I should give him more credit than he deserves. As for those who had some mistakes, here's the answer key. 1. My biggest pet peeve is: A. Slurping soup noisily B. Wearing mismatched clothes C. Unequal level of water in the ice cube tray D. Squeezing the toothpaste tube everywhere E. All of the above If you answered E then you are right to assume that all of the above annoy me. Slurping soup noisily -- unless you're Chinese or belong to any other culture that requires you to slurp to show your appreciation, LEARN SOME MANNERS. Wearing mismatched cl...

The summer session at the Y started this week and once again I enrolled myself to the adult beginner swimming lessons. I know my goal was to be able to swim by my birthday, and technically I can, but I still need work. I'm not going to officially say that I can swim until I reach a point that anyone can pitch me overboard and I wouldn't care less because I know I'd be able to stay afloat and even reach land. Anyway, so Monday I went to swimming class and had a new instructor, but she recognized me from last session's class because she had substituted when my old instructor wasn't there. She told me to go ahead and practice where I left off since she knew I've learned the basics already. So what the heck, what I really needed help on was my side glide so I decided I'd start practicing that. Then the strangest thing happened -- I could do it! I was stunned. I was like, huh??? What, when, how did this happen??? I didn't even practice the entire time I was o...
