1. Family Visit - My parents arrived on June 1st and then my aunt arrived on Raine's birthday. My parents are still here but are leaving next week to go to the US to visit the other grandchildren for a couple of months before coming back here again to help take care of the kids when I go back to work. I now feel silly for being worried before they arrived, I've been having so much fun since they got here :) 2. Butchart Gardens - I haven't gone at all since I moved here because I wanted to save the trip for when my family comes to visit. It was so worth the wait and at the same time I'm sorry I didn't go sooner. It was so beautiful there! 3. Seafood Fest - My dad and aunt were having a seafood trip that we ate so much crabs for the past couple of weeks. I love, love, love seafood! Especially when I'm not the one who made it. 4. My baby boy just turned two! This officially doesn't make him a baby anymore though :( I liked the celebration that we did, simple and less of a circus than what would've normally happened. We took Raine to the petting zoo at the park, had a picnic beside the playground, and watched him have fun and go crazy playing with everything. Of course there were a number of special people we wish we could've celebrated with, but I was glad that the crowd this year was intimately just family plus one friend, who techinically is the only friend we know who lives on the island. All the major elements of a birthday was there, nothing lavish and over the top, which in my book is perfect. It was so great. It was wonderful to watch Raine enjoy himself. We've taken him to playgrounds before but he still didn't quite know how to play exactly. But this time he was interested in trying everything on the playground, this was the first time he even played on the slide without hesitating ...

Belated happy birthday to me! I would've posted earlier but we've been pretty crazy busy since my birthday weekend and then my parents' arrival after we got back from our little roadtrip. But anyway, for a short recap. After months and months of wanting to go off the island, we finally did it! We decided to go to Seattle via Port Angeles. Just a quick overnight trip to see what's out there. We didn't really go around downtown Seattle as we got there pretty late in the evening so we just spent the night there and went around for a bit the next morning. It's okay, Seattle was the side trip anyway. All I really wanted to do was go to the Olympic National Park to look at the Olympic Mountains up close and admire the view from Hurricane Ridge. But since we already made that much effort to leave the island for a day, we might as well take advantage of what else we can see while we were in Washington state so we decided to drive along the coast of the Olympic peninsula...

Yup, I'm taking the plunge to a new committment and decided to do my very own Project 365 . Not that I'm not busy enough, in fact I'm almost positive I won't be able to pull this off without cheating on certain days, but what the heck, I need another challenge. I've already gotten the hang of taking care of two frisky little kids, maintaining a home, I've already learned how to swim, so why not add another task to my daily life and see how I can do them all together? HA! Besides taking pictures is fun and I'm looking at this from the end result point of view and for the benefit of a historical and archival exercise. I would really, really love to be able to look back to every single day of this year on my next birthday. That's the whole theme by the way, documenting how I spend my thirtieth year on this planet.
