1. Bell fell asleep during swimming class -- AGAIN! 2. Bell is finally eating solids! I discovered that she only has distaste for cereal that needs to be mixed with milk. Cereal probably doesn't mesh well with my breast milk hehehe... but other than that she's been eating everything else I've been giving her. YAY! 3. Bell has one tooth coming out! The bottom middle tooth is definitely sprouting! This of course doesn't make it any easier on me when she bites me. 4. Bell just got her passport photo taken and we'll be applying for her Canadian passport, hopefully this week when we finally have time to drop it off. 5. We've retired a lot of Bell's earlier clothes because she has outgrown them. This makes me sad in a way. How can she be growing so fast??? 6. Since Bell can now sit up on her own, we thought we'd try eating in a restaurant and see how long she'll last sitting in a high chair, and guess what, it went pretty well! We can start eating out agai...

It has been a long time since we last spent a relaxed and unharassed family day out together. Our entire family was already out the door first thing in the morning, which we rarely ever achieve had we just wanted to go out, because none of us ever wants to wake up early. That plus it takes a while to get the kids and us ready. So a family day usually means a family half day for us since we never really get to leave the house until noon. But today since we had the kids' swimming lessons, we had a very early start. Not only did we have an early start but we also didn't have a hectic agenda. After swimming class, we were killing time in the mall waiting for Raine's eye check up appointment so other than that, we were just strolling around, window shopping, which was so relaxing for a change as for once we didn't have to run errands at the same time. This is their first petty fight that Raine didn't exactly dominate hehehe... Bell's growing up and she's realizing she can actually stand up to her big brother. Yup, she's no lady, she can hold her own hehehe... As for me, this is a taste of many future instances of refereeing between the two of them. Enjoy!

1. I've been watching Ally Mcbeal online for a week now. Thank goodness it's available to view online as the season dvd sets are not available in North America. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed that show before. 2. I attended a ballet class at the Y last week. Of all the free classes available to me, why ballet? Simple, out of everything I could choose from, it was the only one without cardio plus I already have the shoes for it. 3. Raine and Bell's first swimming class was quite an experience. Bell, who has zero tolerance for any kind of noise, cried whenever the instructor addressed the class because of course, she can't exactly whisper in a large pool full of people. And Raine... he was the only one not paying attention and insisted on doing his own thing. Oh dear, behold my future of constant visits to the principal's office... 4. You know how excited I was with google maps yesterday? Well as a result, I came face to face with a reality that I have been escaping for years, and it triggered an emotion in me that I didn't think I still had. It began when I started looking all the places I've lived in the past. The last one I looked up was my old place in Chicago. I had been completely content with the satellite views that I had been looking at so I just kept double clicking the locations until I had reached the closest view that I could look at. But to my utter shock when I was looking at Chicago and kept double clicking the picture, I was all of a sudden looking at a 360 degree view of my old corner on a street level view. Don't get me wrong, it was wonderful, you have no idea how wonderful it felt to see it again as if I was walking right there. But before I knew it tears were uncontrollably streaming down my cheeks. There's this hill near my doctor's office that we always drive by. It's literally a hill in the middle of a regular residential area. I always look up and say I wonder how you get up there, since there are obviously houses and apartments on that hill. Yesterday when we were driving back from the doctor, I noticed that there were a couple of buses parked right by this white fence that seemingly borders the edge of the highest point on that hill. Naturally this aroused my curiosity even more and the more I've become determined to find the road that leads up to that hill. I mean, what were tour buses (I'm assuming that they were tour buses) doing there? What could a vehicle that hold a huge capacity of people doing up in a place like that if not to bring that huge number of people to go see something that could be the slightest bit interesting? As Victoria is the first city I've lived in that isn't laid out on a grid, it's kind of hard to guess which roads ...

It is exactly six months after Bell was born. How quickly time flies, my daughter is actually half a year old today! I can't help but be proud -- of her because she's healthy and beautiful, and of me because I barely noticed the past six months and I'm still enjoying myself. There's so much that makes this month special. She starts swimming lessons this month and she starts eating solid food this month. She can sit up on her own and can play by herself for a pretty long period of time. She has tried the exersaucer and loved it. She has also started crawling, not on her knees but on her stomach, but she can pretty much travel around the floor and the bed effortlessly just by doing this. She also sleeps through the night now, I'm the only one who still keeps waking up several times at night to check up on her, thus my lack of sleep is actually self inflicted. The best part about my experience with Bell that is so different from Raine is that she actually likes me. Oka...
