Resolution 2011

And so here we are, the start of a new decade! This whole habit of making myself achieve things within the year because otherwise I won't let myself hear the end of it, seems to be really working well for me. It's true, the toughest critic of yourself is yourself. Thus I wish to continue with this tradition and impose more challenges on myself this year. 1. I want to try and become a morning person. For those who know me too well, this sounds impossible. It even sounds impossible from my perspective, but then again having kids really does change things. You know all that training on sleep deprivation while on maternity leave? Well pretty soon you realize, you still function just as well without the amount of sleep you used to have and later on you realize, you had completely forgotten what it was like to sleep in, take naps, etc. So you know what, let's take advantage of this disadvantage. It's pretty obvious that you get so much more done when you start your day ea...

2010 Year End Review

Let me start off by saying -- I LOVE 2010! I don't normally gush over a particular year, in fact I don't believe I ever really showed affection for any specific year since the day I was born, so that says a whole lot when I openly admit to loving this past year. In the beginning, I distinctly remember saying how I was dreading the year 2010 because of this one unwanted and unwelcome event that wasn't quite how I wanted to start my year with. Instead, just focus on the things that I do love, which was probably the best thing I could've done for myself. I should've thought of this sooner, then maybe that way I'd be looking back at other years more fondly. So let me start my review by going through my resolutions for 2010. 1. 25km Hike - The hike happened, but the 25km did not. I had every intention of doing it and you know I tr...

Happy 31st!

Another much delayed recap but I'll do my best to capture the key points of my 31st birthday :) I wasn't really expecting much for my birthday. I figured Eduardo would be working and sometimes celebrating certain events kind of escape his consciousness that he doesn't really plan anything so I figured I'll just make my own plans. I do tend to think ahead so I signed up for a half-day sushi class two months before which happens to be the day before my birthday and that would be my birthday present to myself. Then I thought that whatever I learn from that class I will make on my actual birthday and that will be my birthday dinner for the whole family. And maybe bake my own birthday cake. Whatever. I just know that whatever I end up doing, I will not be bored and will do my best to entertain myself. To my utter surprise Eduardo actually took the day off. He concocted an impromptu birthday dinner at home after I got back from my sushi class, made arrangements for the ki...
